#TITLE#The Importance of Ganesh Statues For Your Homes# By Anurag I. S./TITLE#

Lord Ganesha or simply Ganesh is a very important Hindu god as all spiritual and tantric worship in the Hindu customs starts with the invocation of Lord Ganesha. He is the elephant-headed Hindu god. Thus, you have made the right decision if you planned to place Ganesha idols in your homes. God statues are not meant only for decoration, they work like magic to enhance the auspicious quality of your home.

People are especially fond of beautiful statues of Lord Ganesha because it is said that every good or 'shubh' work is started, with the worship of God Ganesha. Thus, if you have the statue of this god in your home then you will always be ready for worshiping him. It is quite customary to adorn Hindu homes with statues of Hindu gods. In fact, it is quite difficult to find homes, which do not have one.

If you have statues of Ganesha at home then you will be happy to known about the importance of this god and the festival dedicated to him. Hindus, who are dedicated to Lord Ganesha, celebrate a popular festival, known as Ganesha Chaturthi. This festival of Ganesha celebrates the day on which this god, who is, the son of Parvati and Shiva, is said to appear on earth, listening to the prayers of all his devotees. On this very day, beautiful god statues Ganesha are washed and perfumed. If you have a statue at home then you can worship as well as decorate it too and participate in the festivities.

In certain parts of India such as, this festival dedicated to Ganesha is celebrated with a lot of pomp and it continues for 10 long days, which is a lot of worship as well as fun. Ganesha became the Isha or Lord of all other existing beings or "Gana", after he won a contest from Kartikay, his brother. When he got a job of racing around the universe, he did not begin the race unlike his brother, Kartikay, but only walked around his parents, Parvati and Shiva, who were the origin of all existence.

Several stories also account how Ganesha got his famous elephant head. According to one story, Parvati created Ganesha without the presence of Shiva to protect her quarters. When Shiva wished to meet Parvati, Ganesha did not allow it and thus Shiva cut of Ganesha's head. Later Shiva brought back Ganesha to life and gave him an elephant's head because he could not find any other head. -
